The Island Newcomers Club offers many fun filled and informative activities to introduce new residents to each other and the beautiful Golden Isles.
MONTHLY GATHERINGS
Members come together for a cocktail party, holiday lunch or a dinner with speakers who are experts on local topics of interest. A great way to meet new friends.
TRIPS AND TOURS
How about a voyage on a working shrimp boat – and sample the catch while you are on board! Visit nearby historical islands and plantations. Explore Cumberland, Sapelo and Jekyll Islands. Tour King’s Bay Submarine Base or take a day trip to the Okefenokee Swamp. And more …….
DINING IN
Groups of 6 - 10 members meet at one of the group’s homes. The host provides the main course and guests bring salad, side dish, dessert or beverage/wine.
DINING OUT
Members get together each month at the home of a new friend for appetisers and drinks, then move on to one of the many fine area restaurants for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
GOLF
Enjoy the game while meeting other Newcomers and playing beatiful local courses including Oak Grove, Hampton Point, Sea Palms and Jekyll Island.
TREASURE HUNTERS
Help beautify Saint Simons Island. Volunteers meet one Saturday each month for beautiful breakfast and conversation - then search for treasures as they clean up the club's adopted island road.
COUPLES BRIDGE
Couples are arranged in advance for the year and play ion the home of alternating hosts. During play, partners are exchanged to even out results. Scores are kept and at the end of the year a dinner party completes the season.
LADIES BRIDGE
Ladies meet monthly at the King and Prince Hotel for lunch and "party brodge" in the hotel's solarium.
BOOK CLUB
From best sellers to biographies to fine literature. Newcomers meet each month in homes of members to discuss books they have read. Club selections are often available at local bookstores at a discount.
SINGLE & INDEPENDENT NEWCOMERS
Single and independent newcomers meet monthly for planned activities. It's a great opportunity to get together and meet other singles.
GREAT DECISIONS
A well informed discussion group which meets weekly for two months each winter for lively talks on selected global topics. Share in these important thoughts on the state of the world.
